Rochester Native to Play Super Bowl Halftime Show

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — “Music can change the mood of anything.”Inside a west side church is where it all began.”This is definitely where I started hearing music for the first time.” A place John Fossitt hadn’t been to in a while.”It was definitely a good feeling. It feels exactly the same.”Fossitt’s earliest memories of music came from inside this church. It inspired him.”I guess I always had an ear for music from very young. My mom always used to make me listen to a lot of music.”John dabbled in guitar, bass, drums, but keyboards were his specialty. After attending college, Fossitt did what many with musical aspirations do. He moved to Los Angeles.”Just started falling in line with some of the right people, the right people hearing me, connecting with musicians and things like that.”Many young musicians dream of the big time. Fossitt is already there. He’s the keyboardist for Grammy award winner Bruno Mars. He’s played all over the world.”Yeah, I mean it’s definitely a good feeling. You’re inspiring people, giving them some joy in what you’re doing. You’re enjoying it, they’re enjoying it. The crowd is going nuts. Screaming fans. It’s definitely a great feeling.” For all the big crowds he’s played for, nothing compares to what’s ahead.”It’s funny because even when Bruno presented it to us, he was like, what’s the biggest thing we can do?”How about football’s biggest game, which happens to be the world’s most watched TV broadcast.Pressure? “Nah, you know, it’s just the Super Bowl.”The Super Bowl. Where Bruno Mars and his band will perform, at halftime. “Yeah, it’s going to be a good treat. There are a lot of doubters who don’t think we should be doing it, so we’re going to go out there to prove some people wrong, make some new fans, some new haters, and give them a good show.”“This is what you want as a parent. You want your child to succeed,” said John’s mom, Debra.Debra has always been supportive, and she reacts to her son’s accomplishment the way any proud mom would.”It almost makes my heart burst with Joy. I almost feel doubly blessed. One with having him, and two with seeing him become an accomplished individual.” Fossitt is a football fan, but he doesn’t have a horse in this race.”I’m a Giants fan. A Bills fan but they’ve let me down for so many years I kinda gave up on them.”His team’s might be home for the Super Bowl, but the Rochester native will be right at home on the world’s biggest stage. “It’s definitely surreal and definitely a blessing. It doesn’t happen to anybody like this. So to be happening to us at this given moment is definitely a blessing.” - See more at: http://rochester.twcnews.com/content/news/711922/rochester-native-to-play-super-bowl-halftime-show/#sthash.ByXeycjZ.dpuf
